Why hello there! Today we are going to discuss the heart behind the 21 Days of Prayer For Your Business study. You’ve heard about the study, right? If you haven’t, we need to get you properly introduced. This study is very near and dear to my heart. I would go as far as to say it’s one of my main missions in life. I want so desperately for you to understand it’s completely okay to embrace the Lord in every aspect of your life, including your business. The world tells us to keep the two separate, but I promise, the best thing you can do is build your foundation on Him. How do I know? Well, I’ve done it both ways, and building the foundation on the Lord worked out way better. Let me explain.
My husband and I experienced our best-worst year of our lives in 2008. Yep, I said best-worst year. It was the year we lost it all. We sold a business that we loved, not because we wanted to, but because we had to. After a series of unfortunate events, we ended up losing our home, our car, friendships, and a whole lot of pride. It was also the year we felt Jesus the closest. It was the year we had to rely on Him for every little thing. It was the year we realized our priorities were way out of line. We had become way too prideful and didn’t allow the Lord to be the foundation of anything we were doing. If I could go back and do life over, I would allow it to play out the same way. It truly was the worst but best year of our lives.
The next five years were a bit of a growing phase for our family. It was hard. We were rebuilding, not just rebuilding financially, but rebuilding a foundation on the Lord. We participated in our very first 21 Days of Prayer in January of 2008. It was actually right before we experienced that best worst year. I firmly believe that is when we began building our strong foundation on Him. During this time I heard our pastor tell a story of how our church was built on a foundation of prayer. They devoted 21 days to prayer and fasting before they launched the church and at that current time it was one of the fastest growing churches in the United States. Jer and I always said if we ever did a business again, we would devote it to the Lord and build it on a foundation of prayer.
In January of 2013, we had the idea of pursuing a business that we honestly said we would never do. It was actually perfect timing because our church was doing the corporate-wide 21 days of prayer. We decided to pray for a vision and direction and if we felt like we had peace about it and clarity, we would move forward. I’m telling you, after those 21 days, I knew that I knew we were moving in the right direction. Those 21 days built a foundation for a business that has completely blown our minds. The Lord has opened up so many doors, given so much direction, and blessed us with tons of favor. We have hit top ranks in our company in record time. What I love most about this journey, is that it lit a fire under me about how important it is to keep our priorities in line and build that foundation on Him. Again, the world says don’t mix the two, I say how can you not? When the Lord is the center of your life, how can He not be the center of everything you do. The two just go hand in hand.
I told the Lord in 2013 during those 21 days, that I would do whatever He put before me. I would use my gifts and talents in worship to Him and always point people back to Him. The next two years I walked those in our business through 21 days of prayer each January in a Facebook group. The third year, I did daily blog posts and videos live each morning via an app called Periscope. I began getting tons of messages about how this was impacting their lives. I knew it wasn’t really my words, it was that they were seeking after the Lord. I decided that year I wanted to step out and write a study that people could follow. We launched this book in 2017 (21 Days Of Prayer For Your Business) and again decided to walk people through 21 days of live videos that went with each day’s topic.
Each day in our time together, we discuss different topics and how it applies to our life and business. We laugh together, we cry together, and we pray together. If you would like to check out an overview of what all the book covers, you can check it out here. 21 Days Of Prayer For Your Business Overview.
So as you can see, the heart behind 21 Days of Prayer for Your Business, began back in 2008. We have walked through so many seasons of our lives since that time. Those seasons haven’t always been easy, but the Lord was with us. He was growing us, molding us, and shaping us. He was building a foundation that kept getting stronger and stronger and stronger. I don’t know where you are at today, or what your season looks like, but I do know there has never been a better time than now to start building your foundation on Him. It will be the best decision you can ever make. Before we part ways, I want you to know that you are loved. You have had people praying for you and you will continue to have people praying for you as you walk out this journey! I pray this study blesses you like crazy.
